In her newest series of paintings, New Orleans artist Stephanie Reed portrays subjects in scenes of solace at the end of the day: locals congregate in bars and clubs, animals find their resting space, and skies transform in front of an implied ambling viewer. As evening descends, bold transitional light cascades through these tranquil vignettes. The implacability of time’s movement underscores the precious smallness of the moments depicted.
